The village was completely destroyed and its inhabitants decimated. Since 1815, the village has risen from the ashes, and even today, a handful of passionate locals continue to pamper their heritage to perpetuate its memory and enhance its value.
Today, Ailleville is a village with an architecture worth seeing, with a homogeneity rare in our French towns and villages. Ailleville is a fine example of traditional 19th-century Champagne architecture.

The Charles De Gaulle Memorial at Colombey-les-deux-Eglises
