An ancient Loire boat, the Toue was long used for fishing and transporting goods and people on the waters of the Loire, as early as the 17th century. The Toue is in a way the ancestor of the green vehicle: made entirely of wood, it was often completely dismantled on arrival at its destination, and its wood was reused for various constructions. It gradually disappeared from the river landscape, a victim of modernization…
In 2011, the Toue makes its comeback, thanks to Canalous :
This comfortable, all-wood cabin is an instant hit with holidaymakers. With its modern equipment, 2 large rooms and large bay window opening onto nature, it offers an ideal alternative for holidaymakers looking for a change of scenery and an unusual stay, in complete privacy. It also appeals to the more nostalgic, looking for a return to their roots and an authentic vacation, close to the flora and fauna. It’s a little treasure from the heritage of the banks of the Loire that’s making a comeback in the 21st century!

In 2014, Les Toues cabanées set up on the peaceful pond of the Domaine des Demoiselles village in Chassenard, at the gateway to the Auvergne and Burgundy regions: the opening of France’s very first village on the water! Docked or moored, holidaymakers embark for one or more nights on the water, in the heart of nature, just a few steps from the banks of the Loire. An unusual accommodation designed for a family of 2 to 5 people, ideally placed to discover the treasures of Burgundy and Auvergne, and their terroirs, on foot, by bike or by car. A Toue Spa version even allows village residents to enjoy a moment of relaxation with private rental of the sauna and jacuzzi!

In 2015, La Toue set off on another adventure: it will soon be settling in the heart of the Corrèze countryside, in the village of Les Monédières, but that’s another story…
