The village of Les Monédières, in the commune of Chamberet (19), is the ideal place to enjoy nature, just a stone’s throw from the Treignac nature sports resort on the legendary Plateau de Millevaches in Corrèze.
The unusual accommodation on offer is varied: from the carré d’étoile to the roulotte, via the Toues Cabanées, floating in the middle of the Monédières arboretum pond. All with incredible comfort, as in a 4**** hotel room, and surrounded by trees.
At the Village des Monédières, you’ll find everything you need for a vacation with family and friends that’s out of the ordinary: children’s games, free bikes, walking and hiking trails, and even food and drink.
In Chamberet, you can even walk the famous Camino de Santiago de Compostela. The village is on the Rocamadour route.
Here are a few ideas for a weekend in the heart of nature in Correze.
Day 1: The great discovery
By Friday evening, the euphoria of the weekend was already taking us far away from our everyday lives. On arrival at the village of Les Monédières, we are blown away by the magnificent sight of the sun beginning to descend on the Millevaches plateau.
When the manager hands us the key to our Toue Cabanée, along with the life jackets and oar, we’re in a whole new dimension. Yes, we’re going to sleep for 2 nights in the middle of a pond, a dream come true, and one that’s totally accessible thanks to Slowmoov.
So we row back to our Toue Cabanée boat, with an extra round trip for luggage. Just in time to watch the sunset on the terrace, we settle in with a bottle of cider produced directly on site. Inside the unusual accommodation, there’s a fully equipped kitchen, so we can prepare our own meal. After an evening of remaking the world, we fall asleep to the melodious sounds of nature all around us.
Day 2: Choosing an outdoor activity
On Saturday morning, we wake up to the sound of birdsong. We’ve chosen to have breakfast delivered to our front door, and it’s a hearty one at that. Just what we need, because the day’s program includes sports in the great outdoors to clear the head.
Once we’ve had breakfast, we head off to the Maison de l’Arbre, just outside the village of Les Monédières. It’s nice to get away from the car and tarred roads for a weekend. We were faced with a major problem: Which activity(ies) to choose?
The arboretum at Chamberet offers a multitude of activities: accrobranche (tree climbing), different types of golf (swin-golf, disc-golf, mini-golf), cycling, treasure hunts, orienteering, horseback riding, etc.
After a busy morning, we head back to the center of Chamberet to enjoy a meal at the restaurant.
We need to regain our strength, because in the afternoon we’re off on a hike along the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, which passes through Chamberet. 15km of walking on the Rocamadour route. It makes us want to do more, as the scenery is absolutely breathtaking, but it’s time to go home.
At the end of the day, we stop to buy some grilled food at the kota grill we’ve reserved. It’s a Finnish grill. A little hut with a barbecue in the middle and tables all around. A truly convivial and succulent meal.
Day 3: Enjoying the last moments
Day3 and last day of the weekend, we wake up to a magical morning on the water in our Toue Cabanée. We enjoy our last morning of rest in the heart of the Corrèze countryside. To stretch our legs, we set off on the tree circuit, a fun, signposted trail that teaches us more about the trees that surround us.
After lunch at the Monédières village reception, and an early afternoon enjoying the swimming pool, it’s already time to hit the road.
A weekend to remember
In just 2 nights at the Village des Monédières, in the heart of the Millevaches plateau, the disconnection from everyday life is very real. Time passes quickly, too quickly, but we’re happy to have been able to make the most of this weekend in the Corrèze to fill our lungs with the pure Corrèze air.
